Supporting White Ribbon Campaign
Posted on 22 January 2025
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) is proud to announce the rebranding of Highfield’s fire engines in support of the White Ribbon campaign, a global initiative to end violence against women and girls.
This initiative underscores the Service’s commitment to promoting equality, safety, and respect within the community. It also builds upon and furthers our White Ribbon accreditation, reflecting our ongoing dedication to this critical cause.
The newly rebranded fire engine features striking White Ribbon imagery, including the campaign’s distinctive logo and key messaging. This eye-catching design aims to spark conversations, raise awareness, and encourage individuals to take the White Ribbon pledge to never commit, excuse, or remain silent about violence against women and girls.
Station Manager Chris Navin said: “Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is dedicated to supporting initiatives that make our community a safer and more inclusive place.
“Rebranding one of our fire engines to support the White Ribbon campaign is a visible and impactful way to show our solidarity and commitment to ending violence against women and girls.
“We hope this action inspires others to join us in this vital cause.”
In addition to the rebranded fire engine, NFRS has taken steps to embed the values of the White Ribbon campaign within its workforce.
This includes staff awareness training, promoting positive workplace cultures, and engaging in community outreach to challenge harmful behaviours and attitudes.
Jeff Buck, White Ribbon ambassador, said: “We’re thrilled to see Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service taking such an active role in supporting the White Ribbon campaign.
“This initiative highlights their commitment to driving meaningful change and promoting the safety and dignity of women and girls in Nottinghamshire and beyond.
“Over the past week, we have been training all four watch’s at Highfields as well as on-call firefighters from Stapleford and East-Leake, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to advocate for and uphold the principles of the White Ribbon campaign.”
The fire engine will be at Beeston Light Night this Saturday (25 January) from 7:30 pm for you to see, meet the crew and talk about White Ribbon.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service invites everyone to join the movement by taking the White Ribbon pledge and learning more about how they can help create a society free from violence and abuse.
