Pilates Studio Thank Crews Following Large Bin Fire

A Pilates studio in Netherfield has praised emergency services for their response to a fire that broke out in a commercial building yesterday.

Firefighters from Carlton, Arnold, West Bridgford, Stockhill, Blidworth and Ashfield Fire Stations attended the fire on Meadow Road yesterday (Thursday 16 July) following a call just before 8pm.

The fire started in a bin outside, which spread to the building, affecting the ground floor, first floor and roof space, and causing damage to neighbouring businesses.

Thankfully no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The Saint Studio, a reformer Pilates business, were one of the businesses affected by the fire.

Directors of the business, Chelsea Wright, Hannah Doherty and Amber Kennedy, said: “We can’t thank Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire Police enough for their hard work and for what they did yesterday. We would also like to thank the people who alerted us to the fire – a Pilates class was underway and all attendees managed to get out the building.

“Our studio has only been open for one month, so it’s a real shame to experience an incident like this, however we’re grateful that there was no internal damage to our business and that nobody was hurt.”

Group Manager Jonathon Holford from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Fire Protection Team, said: “This incident shows how quickly a fire can develop and spread, particularly when combustible materials such as bins are located close to buildings.

“We encourage all businesses to review their fire risk assessments regularly and ensure waste is stored securely and away from premises wherever possible. Thankfully, everyone was able to get out safely and there were no injuries, but the fire caused significant damage and serves as an important reminder of the need for effective fire safety measures.

“We are pleased that our crews were able to bring the fire under control and help prevent further damage to neighbouring properties.”
