Andy Macey Appointed New Nottinghamshire Assistant Chief Fire Officer

The Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire Authority has today (Friday 25 September) approved the appointment of Andy Macey as Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s (NFRS) new Assistant Chief Fire Officer. 

The appointment follows a competitive selection process, with the recommendation made by the Fire Authority’s Appointments Committee before being formally approved by members. 

Andy is currently Area Manager, Head of Response, within NFRS and will be working alongside current Assistant Chief Fire Officer, Leila Berry, and Chief Fire Officer, Craig Parkin DL, in his new role.

Having started his fire service career in Nottinghamshire in 2002, Andy has worked across various different stations and departments in his 24-year career so far – starting at Dunkirk Fire Station and progressing through roles in Response, Corporate Services, Risk and Assurance, Service Improvement and Community Safety.

Andy said: “I’m incredibly proud to have been appointed as Assistant Chief Fire Officer and I’m looking forward to taking on the role.

“Having worked for the Service for over two decades, I know the commitment and professionalism of our people and the difference they make to communities across Nottinghamshire every day.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the role, supporting our people and playing my part in making sure we continue to improve as a Service.”

Commenting on the appointment, Chief Fire Officer, Craig Parkin DL, said: “I’m delighted for Andy, and his family, following his appointment. I’m also incredibly proud that a Nottinghamshire officer has done so well in what was a very competitive process. 

“Andy brings significant operational and leadership experience to the role, as well as a strong understanding of our Service and the communities we serve.

“He is well respected by colleagues right across our organisation and I know he will continue to be an important part of our Strategic Leadership Team as we continue to improve and deliver the best possible service for our communities.”
