15:30 | By Friday, specialist contractors will have completed the clean-up operation at the site of the fire and nearby properties in Sandhurst Avenue, Bessemer Drive and Anvil Court. The site of the fire in Forest Road will then be handed back to the owners. Any further outstanding concerns should be raised by residents with their insurance company.

We will be in the area over the coming days and weeks to offer safety advice and fit smoke alarms.

14:45 | There is still some smouldering at the site near Forest Road.

Due to the unstable structure of the building, firefighters are unable to physically get to the smoke and steam but it is being closely monitored by firefighters to stop any reignition.

Please only ring 999 if you see flames. Please keep doors and windows closed if affected by the smoke.

Specialist contractors are continuing the clean-up and the Environment Agency are going door to door to reassure and support residents.

A joint fire and police investigation is ongoing.

The cause is not believed to be suspicious at this time but anyone with information or concerns is asked to speak to an officer at the scene or call 101, quoting incident number 523 of 18 March 2023.

10:20 | A fire engine remains on scene as demolition work takes place to reduce the dust using mist.

15:15 | A clean-up operation is beginning on Forest Road and the surrounding areas following the fire.

Specialist contractors will be knocking on doors on Sandhurst Avenue, Forest Road, Bessemer drive and surrounding roads that have been impacted by the fire.

These contractors will be clearing any fire debris that may have landed onto people's homes or in gardens. Please do not touch the fire debris and leave it for the contractors to clear.

Demolition work is due to commence on Forest Road where there is likely to be a significant dust cloud. We ask people to remain indoors as this happens, keeping windows and doors closed.

One fire engine will remain overnight to monitor the area. A joint fire and police investigation will begin once the area is safe.

11:10 |The fire is mostly extinguished with firefighters turning over rubble to check for hot spots. Four fire engines remain on scene.

We are working with local authority partners to clear debris on Forest Road. The road remains closed and we are likely to be in the area for some time.

A joint fire and police investigation will take place when the area is safe.

16:00 | Update | Residents living on Sandhurst Avenue and Forest Road are now able to return to their homes.

Residents living in Bessemer Drive are now able to return to their homes on foot. Those living on Bessemer Drive will only be able to access their homes via the back pedestrian entrance through Clifford Street. This is due to debris being in the road and a building collapse at the scene. Residents are advised they will not be able to get into their vehicles and drive on Bessemer Drive due to these circumstances.

Those returning to their properties are asked to please keep all doors and windows closed. Residents are also advised to not go into their gardens due to smoke and debris and concern about potentially hazardous materials.

Inspector Katie Eustace, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I want to thank everyone affected by this fire for their patience as we understand how scary and upsetting an incident like this can be for everyone involved, so I want to say thank you to everyone who has worked with us and stayed away throughout yesterday and today.

“Thank you for your support and understanding.

“Our colleagues at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service remain on scene.

“Officers will continue to be in the area so please do speak to them if you have any queries as you return to your homes.”

The incident remains under investigation.

Forest Road will remain shut at the junction of Sandhurst avenue and Nottingham Road while the investigation continues.

Oak Tree Leisure Centre, in Jubilee Way South, will close shortly as those affected are allowed back into their homes.

15:45 | Update | Crews remain on scene along with Nottinghamshire Police and Seven Trent Water to resolve Forest Road fire as soon as possible. We would like to thank the local community for their support and to ask the public to avoid the area due to smoke.

12:15 | Update | We continue to work hard at the Forest Road incident in Mansfield alongside Mansfield District Council, Local Authority, Nottinghamshire Police and our other partners. At present residents are still not allowed back in but we will update everyone again in an hour.

11:00 | Update | Nottinghamshire Police will be contacting local residents directly to keep them informed when they can return to their property. At present residents cannot return to their property and this is likely to be the case for a number of hours still. Oaktree leisure centre is being used again as a rest centre for anyone who needs it. Please avoid the area and keep doors and windows closed.

09:45 | Update | The electricity supply to local properties has been restored. Forest Road and Sandhurst Avenue remain closed, and Nottingham Road has been opened in one direction heading into Mansfield.

07:00 | Update | 7 crews plus an aerial ladder platform remain on scene at the industrial fire in Mansfield on Forest Road. Road closures, power cuts to local properties, and evacuation of the surrounding houses remain in place for the time being and we ask people to stay away from the area. We continue to work hard to resolve this incident and thank the local residents for their patience and understanding.

We are currently at a large fire on an industrial estate on forest road Mansfield. Please avoid the area and if affected by the smoke keep doors and windows closed

19:00 | Update | The Oak Tree Leisure Centre, in Jubilee Way South, will open from 7 pm as a place of safety for members of the public effected by the fire.

18:20 | Update | To enable us to tackle the incident on Forest road safely we have had to isolate the local electrics. Parts of Forest Road, Sandhurst Avenue, Bessemer drive and Nottingham Road are without power. Electric will be restored as soon as it is safe to do so. We thank local residents for their patience.

Currently, we have over 100 firefighters on the scene.
There have been no reports of injuries.

16:35 | Update | Currently we have crews from Mansfield, Ashfield, Blidworth, Edwinstowe, Hucknall, Arnold, Warsop, Shirebrook, Maltby, Kibworth, Stapleford, Chesterfield, Worksop and Highfields in attendance at Forest Road. Please avoid the area.

16:20 | Update | We are being assisted by Nottinghamshire Police who are closing roads along Nottingham Road, Forest Road and Sandhurst Avenue. Nearby properties along Forest Road and Sandhurst Avenue are also being evacuated.

16:00 | Fire | We are currently in attendance at an industrial fire on Forest Road Mansfield. Please avoid the area and if affected by the smoke close doors and windows. Approximately 50 firefighters are on scene, we have received a large number of calls since this incident which started at 3:44pm.
