Crews Battle Scrap Metal Fire At Langar Industrial Estate

After more than 48 hours of continuous firefighting, the incident in Langar has now concluded. The fire is fully extinguished and our crews are beginning to leave the scene.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved — both those on the ground and those supporting behind the scenes. Managing an incident of this scale is challenging in any circumstances, let alone during a heatwave, and the dedication shown by all staff has been exceptional.

Firefighters remain on scene at the fire in Langar, with the number of resources now beginning to scale down.
A High Volume Pump (HVP), Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) and a further four fire engines will remain in attendance, with crews continuing to work throughout the night to fully extinguish the fire.
While crews have made good progress, the fire is still producing a large volume of smoke. Residents in the local area are advised to keep windows and doors closed.

Firefighters are continuing to tackle a large fire at Langar Industrial Estate, with crews expected to remain at the scene into the evening.
At the height of the incident, 12 fire engines and a number of specialist appliances were in attendance. The fire involves a significant quantity of scrap metal, with crews working throughout the afternoon in extremely challenging conditions due to high temperatures.
The incident is now under control, and residents are being reassured that crews are making good progress.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is being supported by neighbouring services, including Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. A High Volume Pump from South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service has also been deployed to help supply water to what is a remote and isolated site.
People are asked to continue avoiding the area while crews remain in attendance. Nearby residents should keep windows and doors closed to reduce the impact of smoke.
