Fire Service called to brazier fire in Market Warsop

Posted on 31 May 2023

On Wednesday 24 May, at 12:53pm, we were called to a shed fire on Plough Yard, Market Warsop.

Crews from Warsop and Derbyshire's Shirebrook used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, and breaking-in gear to extinguish the fire that had severely damaged the wooden outbuilding.

The Region's fire investigation dog, Ginny, attended with handler Dave Coss and Fire Investigation Officer Beth Hayman.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, caused by an unattended bonfire within a brazier.

Fire Investigation Officer, Beth Hayman, said "Now the warmer months are here, there is a growing trend of people spending the evenings outside sitting around a firepit or brazier.

"Although these have their social benefits, they also come with significant risk.

"Please ensure any burning equipment is positioned in a safe place, away from property and any combustible items.

"It is important to never leave these unattended and to have a water bucket or hose pipe in close proximity should you need it."
