Fatal RTC, Newark

Firefighters from Newark Fire Station attended an RTC last night (Thursday 18 May) on Victoria Street, Newark on Trent, following a call at 22:33.

Upon arrival, one vehicle was on its side, with two male casualties trapped.

Crews extracted both casualties, however sadly, one casualty was declared dead at the scene.

Area Manager, Andy Macey, said: 

On behalf of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, I would like to express my condolences to the man’s family and friends for their loss.

We are grateful to our firefighters and all other Emergency Services for their support at the scene."

Detective Constable Liah Lane, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a truly tragic incident that resulted in the untimely death of a young man.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends, who are currently being supported at this sad time.

“An investigation is currently ongoing to establish exactly what happened, so it’s extremely important that anyone who can assist us does so.

“We’d ask that anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage or CCTV that could aid our inquiries comes forward immediately.”
