Exhibition To Mark South Asian Heritage Month
Posted on 18 July 2024
To mark South Asian Heritage Month, we are celebrating Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service employees, of South Asian heritage, by launching a portrait exhibition.
South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM) - which runs annually from 18 July to 17 August - gives an opportunity to showcase South Asian cultures, histories, and communities, and we want to celebrate the South Asian members of staff we have within our organisation.
'Free To Be Me' features ten different portraits of past and present staff members, who all contribute to keeping the communities of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire safe.
The exhibition also features a concept designed by the Academy Transformation Trust Further Education (ATTFE) College. This concept - which is a sector leading initiative - gives an insight into what an undress uniform would look like for a South Asian member of staff - this is something we would love to implement within the Service as we strive to become an outstanding organisation.
The exhibition will be hosted at the Nottingham Playhouse from Monday 29 July until Sunday 4 August, for members of the public to go and visit.
We want to represent the communities we serve therefore we hope that this exhibition encourages those of South Asian heritage to consider a career with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
