NFRS 2024 70 - Bonfire Night
You asked for
I am writing to make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Please provide me with the following information:
- The number of calls made to your fire service relating to incidents on Bonfire Night (5th November) for each of the last three years (2021, 2022, and 2023).
- The number of incidents your fire service actually attended after being called out on Bonfire Night (5th November) for each of the last three years (2021, 2022, and 2023).
- The total cost to your fire service of attending firework-related incidents for each of the last three financial years (2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24).
Please provide this data separately for each year so that a year-on-year comparison can be made.
If one part of the request can be answered sooner than the others, please send that information first, followed by any subsequent data.

Answer: Be advised the costs in this instance have been calculated as a general estimate using the Service’s fees and charges for 2024-2025 where all appliances are assumed to be fully crewed.
