Service Introduces New Electric Vehicle Blankets For Incidents
Posted on 14 March 2025
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has introduced specialised electric vehicle (EV) blankets to be used when dealing with electric vehicles on the roads across Nottinghamshire.
The EV blankets are designed to manage incidents involving electric vehicles and provide enhanced safety for both firefighters and the public, and they are now available to be deployed to incidents right across the county.
The introduction of these blankets represents a proactive step in responding to the increasing presence of electric vehicles on the roads and ensure that as a fire and rescue service, we are fully equipped with the latest resources to help us handle emerging risks effectively. The blankets are specifically designed to help contain fires of this type, which will ultimately reduce the potential for further damage and even injury during incidents.
Richard Leighton, Station Manager of Resilience and Emergency Planning, said: “The safety of our communities is at the heart of everything we do, and the introduction of these EV blankets is an essential step towards ensuring we are best prepared for any emergency calls that we may receive.
“By introducing new equipment to our inventory, it means we can enhance our service delivery but most importantly, protect the lives of our communities. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to becoming an outstanding fire service and creating safer communities.”
