Communities come together to support Fire Station Christmas Toy Collection

Posted on 11 December 2023

This festive period, fire stations and staff across the county took part in collecting thousands of toys to give to vulnerable children and mothers to open on Christmas Day.

In November, the Fire Service asked for donations of brand new toys in their original packaging, to donate to Tara's Angels and Midland's Women's Aid for gifting to Nottinghamshire's refuges.

Thanks to the generosity of Nottinghamshire's communities and fire service staff, the Service was able to donate thousands of toys to give children a happy Christmas.

Toys ranged from brand-new Lego to teddy bears, for children aged from birth to 17. They also received products for mothers, including bath sets and face cream.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service's staff Women's Network said "we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our staff and our communities. We've had donations from supermarkets, schools, families, and more.

"Thank you so much to everyone for your kindness, especially when money is tight at the moment. We are so proud to support children and mothers who need it most this Christmas, and give back to our communities."

You can bring general donations for Women's refuges all-year-round to Highfields Fire Station, in Beeston.
