I write to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request information from you regarding the statistics surrounding the number of fires caused by electric vehicle batteries, broken down by the specific type of vehicle & city/town this occurred in throughout the past fiscal year (2022/23) in the specific region this fire service is responsible for.

The specific information I am requesting is:

• The number of fires caused by electric vehicles broken down by each city/townyour fire service is responsible for during the last fiscal year (2022/23).
• The type of electric vehicle involved in each fire caused by an electric batterythroughout the last fiscal year (2022/23).

   Answer: - 2, one in the Mansfield area and the other in Broxtowe.

   Please be advised that Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service do not have an accurate recording method specific to EVs as there is no specific field for type ofvehicle and we rely on secondary information provided by crew in attendance toidentify the data.
