NFRS 2022 96 - Secondary employment

You asked for:

  1. Do you allow secondary employment in your service?
  2. If yes, do you allow secondary employment to carry out fire safety work such as fire risk assessment, fire training or any other fire consultancy work?
  3. If yes, do you allow you staff to carry out this work within the Services area or not?

Our Response:

  1. Do you allow secondary employment in your service?

    Answer: - Yes, all employees must comply with our Policy 1017 Secondary Employment Policy.

  2. If yes, do you allow secondary employment to carry out fire safety work such as fire risk assessment, fire training or any other fire consultancy work?

    Answer: - The Secondary employment policy sets out that secondary employment will not be granted in cases where an employee provides services which are the same as the core activities of NFRS, or which conflict in anyway with the interests of NFRS. This would include providing advisory or consultancy services related to fire protection, fire prevention or other statutory activity provided by NFRS

  3. If yes, do you allow you staff to carry out this work within the Services area or not?

    Answer: - The Secondary employment policy sets out that secondary employment will not be granted in cases where an employee provides services which are the same as the core activities of NFRS, or which conflict in anyway with the interests of NFRS. This would include providing advisory or consultancy services related to fire protection, fire prevention or other statutory activity provided by NFRS
