NFRS 2022 86 - fires at recycling centres, scrapyards, landfill, other waste management facilities

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information. Please may you provide me with:

Statistics on the number of fires your fire service has attended at recycling centres, scrapyards, landfills, and any other waste management facilities since 1st January 2022.

If possible, please also highlight any incidents where other regional fire services have been brought in to assist in putting out these fires - this is not completely necessary but will help us to build a more accurate picture of this year’s waste fire incidents.

Please provide the information in the form of a word document or pdf.

Our Response:

1. Statistics on the number of fires your fire service has attended at recycling centres, scrapyards, landfills, and any other waste management facilities since 1st January 2022.

   Answer: - 14 where the property type matches recycling centres, scrapyards, landfills, and any other waste management facilities.

2. 2. If possible, please also highlight any incidents where other regional fire services have been brought in to assist in putting out these fires - this is not completely necessary but will help us to build a more accurate picture of this year’s waste fire incidents.

   Answer: - 2 incidents attended by other regional appliances, both were attended by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
