Stapleford’s grotto returns for the third year
Posted on 14 December 2022
Stapleford Fire Station ran their popular Santa’s grotto again this year in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity.
On Saturday 10 December, Stapleford’s fire station was transformed into a drive-through Christmas grotto, complete with lights, music, elves, a snowman, and the pesky Grinch.
Santa was there to greet children and their families, seeing nearly 400 cars through over six hours.
The event is well-loved by local people and the station was overwhelmed by support from local people, businesses, and volunteers without who the event wouldn’t have been possible. 1821 selection boxes were kindly donated to the station for Santa to give to visiting children.
This year’s event raised £1070 of much needed funds for The Fire Fighters Charity, which supports current and retired firefighters, their families and fire service staff.
Crew Manager Kev Tedds of Stapleford Fire Station said: “We have been amazed by the support from local people and want to say thank you to everyone who came along and made special memories with us.
“The Fire Fighter’s Charity is very close to our hearts and this money will help provide physical and mental health support to injured fire service personnel and their families.
