Proud to lead Notts Pride

Nottinghamshire Pride took place through the streets of Nottingham on Saturday 11 September, with a fire engine leading the parade.

A fire engine from Arnold Fire Station, along with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service staff and the Assistant Chief Fire Officer, led the Pride procession through Nottingham city centre. Starting from Albert Street the parade went through the city and ended at Broad Street.

After 2020’s parade was held virtually, this year only the parade took place with the intention for the full event to return next year. 

The parade paused to hold a minute’s silence to remember the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Candida Brudenell said: “We are proud to be here today and lead the parade in support of our LGBT+ community.

“The atmosphere here has been fantastic, and it has been brilliant to see everyone come out to support this event after the difficult times we have been through together.

“Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is here to serve every part of our diverse community. As an employer we are committed to supporting our LGBT+ employees and making our organisation more representative of the communities we serve.”
