Over 100 Businesses Visited As Part Of Business Safety Week
Posted on 20 September 2024
Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service’s Business Safety team has visited 113 businesses this week, as part of business safety week.
The team have been working hard throughout the week to offer advice and guidance to a variety of businesses across the county, to help them better understand and comply with their legal responsibilities, and to ensure they are keeping themselves, their properties, their staff, and customers, safe from fire.
To kick off business safety week – which ran from Monday 16 September until Friday 20 September – members of our Fire Protection department visited businesses around Colwick Industrial Estate following a fire which occurred on Friday 30 August 2024. This was to offer them reassurance and to ensure they had everything in place to prevent further incidents from happening.
The team also completed two diverse interaction with business safety (DIBS) events across Worksop and Retford. They were also joined by members of the North Notts BID Team, who support over 1,100 local businesses.
Tom Kitchen, Business Support Team Manager at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “As part of business safety week we collaborated with the North Notts BID team to run a special event in Worksop and Retford. The purpose of these events was to identify small independent businesses who we know must juggle many competing demands.
“Fire safety is such an important part of running a business and we have spoken to over 100 business owners directly throughout the week, offering advice and support to ensure they comply with fire legislations to keep themselves, and their customers, safe.
“Business safety week has been a huge success, and we would like to thank all of the businesses who spoke to us throughout the week, and of course, the North Notts BID team.”
CEO of North Notts BID team, Sally Gillborn, said: “North Notts BID is delighted to be continuing our working partnership with Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service.
“These visits, which are a part of business safety week, have been extremely beneficial to our small independent businesses and BID members across both Worksop and Retford. Ensuring that businesses are informed and compliant with changes in legislation and regulations is critical, not only to the business itself, but also for the safety of their staff and customers.”
Tom added: “If you would like to know more, or if you have any questions, then please visit the business safety page on our website. We also have a brand-new Facebook page, so head over there to give us a follow!”
