Ofsted Good inspection rating for Firefighter Apprentice Programme

Posted on 24 August 2022

Last month, Ofsted conducted a full inspection of our Wholetime Operational Firefighter Apprenticeship Programme.

The inspection gave Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service a strong overall rating of 'Good' for our apprenticeship provision.

The visit was detailed with four inspectors reviewing the apprenticeship development over four days against the same criteria and standards required of all apprenticeship providers.

The team was highly complimentary of what they found, and the criteria ratings were:

- The quality of education - Good

- Behaviour and attitudes - Outstanding

- Personal development - Good

- Leadership and management - Good

- Apprenticeships - Good

Head of Risk Assurance and Operational Training, Leila Henry, said: "I am extremely pleased that the Ofsted inspection found our in-house apprenticeship provision to be a high standard. It reflects the hard work of all the apprentices, their line managers and crews supporting them, as well as the trainers and work-based assessment team. Well done to everyone."
