Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service Strengthens Fleet with 17 New Appliances

Posted on 21 August 2025

This year, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) will introduce 17 brand-new fire appliances as part of a major long-term investment to keep communities across the county safe. The first of these vehicles officially went on the run today, marking the start of a phased roll-out that will strengthen frontline response and resilience for years to come.

The new appliances are equipped with the latest technology, designed to enhance efficiency, improve firefighter safety, and provide a stronger response to a wide range of incidents. This investment demonstrates the Service's dedication to ensuring the right resources are in place to protect people, property and the natural environment across Nottinghamshire.

To celebrate the launch of the first new appliance, NFRS took a step back in time to 1955 to reflect on how far firefighting technology has advanced. The comparison between heritage appliances and today's state-of-the-art fleet serves as reminder of the Service's history and it's continued commitment to protecting communities with the most advanced resources available.

Area Manager Cath Toovey, Head of Resources at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

" This is a really exciting step forward for us. Our firefighters deserve the very best tools to do their jobs safely and effectively, and these new appliances provide exactly that. We've worked closely with crews and suppliers to make sure each vehicle meets the needs of modern firefighting, and I'm proud that this investment will make a real difference to the communities we serve."

The full roll-out of all 17 appliances will take place over the course of 2025, forming a key part of NFRS's long-term strategy to modernise its fleet and maintain the highest standards of emergency response across the county.
