Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service Leads Multi-Agency Emergency Exercise
Posted on 23 September 2025
On Tuesday 16 September, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) participated in a large-scale training exercise designed to test the multi-agency response to a dynamic incident involving significant numbers of casualties on public transport.
NFRS crews were supported by colleagues from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, alongside partner organisations including Nottinghamshire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service, Nottinghamshire City and County Councils, the Environment Agency, NHS services, the Integrated Care Board, British Red Cross, and the Local Resilience Forum.
Rich Leighton, Head of Community Safety and Engagement at NFRS, said:
Training and testing our resilience as an emergency service ensures we are prepared for all eventualities and can keep our communities safe.
“Working alongside partner agencies in exercises like this allows us to test our joint capabilities, share learning, and strengthen our ability to respond effectively should a large-scale incident occur.
“I want to thank all NFRS crews who took part, as well as our colleagues from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue, partner agencies, the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre, and the volunteers who helped make this exercise possible. Their contribution was vital to its success.”
