Joint event marks LGBT+ History Month

To mark February as LGBT+ History Month, we put on a joint event 'Projecting with Pride' alongside Nottinghamshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner's Office at the Broadway Cinema in Nottingham.
The audience watched some LGBT+ short films and heard from guest speakers David Edgely from Notts LGBT+ Network on LGBT+ History in Nottinghamshire and Caroline Paige, CEO of Fighting with Pride, a charity supporting LGBT+ veterans, service personnel and their families.
The event had been organised in partnership between staff networks at police, fire and the commissioner's office.
Attendees were joined by the Chief Fire Officer Craig Parkin, Chief Constable Kate Meynell and Police and Crime Commissioner Caroline Henry.
Station Manager Charley Weatherall-Smith, Chair of the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service LGBT+ Network, said: "This was a great first event of this kind with our partners and local LGBT+ community groups as we continue to develop the Network. Thank you to everyone who made it along and to Broadway for hosting us.
"We serve diverse communities across the county so giving people more understanding of the LGBT+ community and issues they face helps us to deliver a better service."
