Hundreds raised by trainee firefighters

Posted on 24 July 2023

On Thursday 13 July, eight of our trainee firefighters took part in a step challenge to raise money for two charities - The Good Will Cause and The Fire Fighters Charity.

The firefighters proudly completed 80,000 steps in full fire kit and BA sets.

All of the trainees that took part in this event had enormous amounts of support from members of the public, as well as staff and colleagues.

They had special visits throughout the day, including a visit from our fire investigation dog Barney, and his handler, Tim, as well as our Assistant Chief Fire Officer's.

As well as raising money through donations, charity merchandise and cakes were sold on the day to people passing by to add to the total.

The group raised over £1,000 in total, which is being split between two charities.

It was a great day had by all, and we want to say well done to the trainees who took part in this challenge. It's people like you, and challenges like this, that make a difference to people's lives, so thank you.

You can still donate, no matter how big or small, via their fundraising page.
