Former Chief John Buckley's donation to The Fire Fighters Charity

Posted on 03 February 2023

In April 2022, former Chief Fire Officer John Buckley, presented £1000 to the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service local committee of The Fire Fighters Charity on his retirement.

John showed huge enthusiasm and support for the Charity during his time at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, and was a well-known advocate for the Charity and all it offers.

The donation was used to buy Charity merchandise for fundraising events and stalls. The merchandise has been on sale at Goose Fair, HQ summer garden parties, and more.

Chief Fire Officer Craig Parkin said "John's generous donation has been a godsend for The Fire Fighters Charity fundraising in Nottinghamshire.

"It has given us that extra base level of stock and allowed us to raise even more for such a worthwhile cause. In 2022 alone, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service raised £111,048 for the Charity."

John Buckley said "I was really pleased to be able to make the donation as I know the local charity reps work extremely hard and that they will use it to raise even more much needed funds for The Firefighters Charity."

John continues to support Nottinghamshire’s local fundraising during his retirement, volunteering at events such as Theatre Royal collections and Goose Fair.
