Fire Service Chaplain announces retirement

The Fire Service Chaplain, Reverend David Milner, has announced that he is retiring from his role.
David Milner had been Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service’s Chaplain for over six years, joining us back in 2016 after he retired from his work with the Church.
He greatly enjoyed the role being well-liked across the Service. In his role, David provided welfare support to members of staff and took a leading role in Service ceremonial events such as our annual carol services, Remembrance Sunday and passing out parades.
One of David’s proudest moments as Chaplain was when he supported the community of Collingham after a fatal fire which claimed the lives of a mother and her two children. David said that at that most difficult time it was a "huge privilege to be alongside people doing such an onerous job".
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Candida Brudenell said: “It’s with great sadness that David has resigned as we know how much he has enjoyed his role and we are very grateful to have had him in this voluntary role.
“The work that he has done on building a multi-faith chaplaincy alongside other faith communities is something that he should be particularly proud of, so we can ensure all colleagues have access to the different support they might need.
“On behalf of the Service I want to thank David for his years of dedicated service and the support he has given to us all. Thank you David and we all wish you a happy retirement.”
