Fire Authority Chair & Vice Chair Appointed At Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire Authority took place today (Friday 23 May) at Sherwood Lodge, the joint fire and police headquarters.

Councillor Audra Wynter was voted in as Chair of the Authority for another term, whilst Councillor Mike Adams was voted in as Vice Chair.

Cllr Wynter is a Labour member for Bestwood (Nottingham City Council) ward. She took over from Cllr Michael Payne as Fire Authority Chair on 13 December 2024, having previously been the Authority’s Vice Chair overseeing some significant moments in the service’s recent history – namely being rated as good in ten out of 11 inspection areas by His Majesty’s Inspectorate, and being named Emergency Service of The Year at the Excellence in Fire Awards.

Following her appointment, Cllr Wynter committed to working with every member of the Fire Authority to continue delivering the ‘immense’ work that the service has undertook in recent years.

Councillor Mike Adams is a Conservative member for Carlton East (Nottinghamshire County Council).
