Delivering The CRMP - Annual Delivery Plan

From April 2025, we are embarking on a new Community Risk Management Plan to take us through to 2028 and continue our journey towards being an ‘Outstanding’ organisation. Each year a delivery plan will be agreed ensuring that the commitments made in the CRMP are met and any emerging opportunities or risks can be effectively managed, governed and resourced in a responsible way.

We have governance arrangements in place to manage our programmes of work and have a clear process in place for accepting the initiation of projects and initiatives. This tiered approach, depending on risk, impact and spend of the work will continue throughout the life of the CRMP and this workforce plan.

During 2023/24 we invested in a new Programme Management Office to ensure that we have the skills and capabilities to support our ambitions to become an outstanding fire and rescue service by 2032. This team provides excellent support and advice to leaders in the Service who, in the majority of cases, are managing projects in addition to their normal day job.

Normally, projects will be undertaken with the resources available across the participating departments. In some cases, where there is a larger capital spend, additional resources will be made available by recruiting new, or seconding-in existing talent from NFRS or local partners.

The resource and skills need to be in place to build an effective resourcing and capacity plan. This is something that could be considered to resource our work in a more effective way.
