Core Operational Competencies

Core Operational Competencies comprise of Breathing Apparatus, Casualty Care, Command and Control, Extrication, HAZMAT, Water/Water Safety, Working at Height and Driving.

The Service revalidates core competencies in line with industry standards. Where an industry standard has not been set, a three yearly revalidation frequency has been determined.

EFAD Drivers – we have 314 employees at FF-WM level who are trained EFAD drivers.

Commanders – we have approximately 182 crew and watch managers and 201 members of staff trained at Incident Command Level 1.

The Response leadership team monitor skill acquisition and deployment across the organisation, including revalidation.

Officer Specialisms Officer

Specialisms are managed by the Response department, ensuring that gaps are filled and CPD is maintained.
