Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) have been
joining other services to support The Fire Fighters Charity during the
unprecedented times that we are currently facing.
Fire Stations across the county have been taking part in
charity car washes, with NFRS stations taking part in the most amount of car
washes within the East Midlands.
Carlton Fire Station was the first out of all our stations
to host a car wash. Bingham, Tuxford, Retford, Edwinstowe, Blidworth and
Ashfield Fire Station have also held a car wash to raise money for The Fire
Fighters Charity.
Between all our Fire Stations, we have raised over £3,500.
Laura Challis, Community, Corporate and Events Fundraiser at
The Fire Fighters Charity, said: “Thank you so much to Nottinghamshire Fire and
Rescue Service personnel and our communities for their generosity in supporting
our National Car Wash campaign. We’re hugely grateful for those raising
and donating funds to our Charity.
“This year has been a challenging and difficult one for us
all, with our Charity losing £200,000 every month since March, in comparison
with what we usually raise nationally pre COVID-19. To continue to support
the thousands of beneficiaries the Charity helps each year, we need you now
more than ever, so your help couldn’t have come at a better time.”
NFRS also raised the most funds in the East Midlands during
the National Car Wash campaign in 2019. The presentation for this award was
delayed due to the pandemic, however we have now received the trophy.
As we now enter the second national lockdown, The Fire
Fighters Charity will continue to see a loss in their funds. We will continue
to support the charity during these times, and if you think you can help in any
way, you can visit The Fire Fighters Charity website.
