Partnership working with FireStoppers

03/06/2021

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has set up a partnership with FireStoppers as part of our Prevention work.

The FireStoppers service is provided by Crimestoppers, an independent charity that gives people the power to speak up and stop crime anonymously.

The mission is to detect, reduce and deter crime.

This partnership will hopefully raise awareness of the service and what it does, to encourage people to tell you what they know, to reduce the need for and cost of investigations and to deter individuals from setting deliberate fires.

Bryn Coleman, Area Manager of Prevention and Protection at NFRS said: “Firefighters around Nottinghamshire spend hours trying to extinguish deliberate fires throughout the year.

“Deliberate fires cause incredible harm to the environment and could even cost a firefighter or a member of the public their life. Dealing with these types of fires ties up a lot of our resources and takes firefighters away from other emergencies.

“We are working with our partners, including FireStoppers, to tackle this issue.

“If you have any information about those setting deliberate fires in your community, please report it 100% anonymously to FireStoppers on 0800 169 5558 or via the online form at www.firestoppersreport.co.uk. If the incident requires an emergency response, please call 999, you can then call FireStoppers if you have additional information you would like to pass on anonymously.”
