During the pandemic, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service
has been business as usual and we have still been attending incidents and being
there for our communities. However, we haven’t been able to stick to routine.
We regularly go into schools around Nottinghamshire to talk
to children about fire safety. We also invite schools to their local fire
stations on an educational trip but due to the pandemic, this has had to stop.
As it was Christmas, we thought it would be great to get a
little competition set up for children around Nottinghamshire to ensure they
are still engaged with fire safety, and we have now decided on the winner.
Jamie Brimson, aged 3 years old, is the winner of our
His colouring showed Santa looking at the Christmas tree,
where presents were in front of it. His chosen messaging said: ‘they’ve blocked
the fire exit again, naughty!’
Even at Christmas, we ask for you to leave your escape route
clear whether it is in your home or in your business. It is important that you
have a clear escape route planned in case there is ever an emergency.
For winning, Jamie will receive a tour of his local fire
station whenever government guidelines allow.
