Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service battle the blaze at Langar Airfield Industrial estate.

Crews were called at 2:43pm on Thursday 21 May following reports of a fire at Langar Airfield Industrial estate.

15 Appliances attended, with one High Volume Pump, three Water Carriers, one Command Unit and approximately 90 Firefighters from three different Services.

As Crews tackled the blaze, the smoke plumes could be seen from Nottingham City Centre, Hucknall and Bingham.

Group Manager, Tom Archer, said: “We were advising people to keep all windows and doors closed if they can still see the smoke plumes or if they believe it is still affecting the area.

“Crews worked very hard on this incident and we want to thank the public for their understanding and support.”

Fire Safety Inspectors from Fire Protection will be in the area today (Tuesday 26 May) to conduct a Business Reassurance and Engagement event.

They will be engaging with local businesses who have been affected by the fire and providing advice and support. They will also be encouraging businesses to review their Fire Risk Assessment, and helping them prepare for an emergency by giving Business Continuity advice.
