Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have worked closely together with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to produce a guide aimed at food takeaway businesses to help protect them from the risk of a fire.
Takeaway premises can be a high fire risk, especially if the owner has not taken sufficient fire safety precautions. This guide will enable these businesses to carry out a fire risk assessment, reduce the impact of a fire and help them keep their customers and staff safe. It will also allow them to take steps to protect those working or living in neighbouring properties.
Group Manager, Andrew Kelly, said: “We recognise that it can be daunting for small businesses when it comes to ensuring they abide by all fire safety regulation, that is why we have produced this guide which will make it easier to understand what is needed to be compliant.
“Several business owners have already commented on its ease of use.”

“By producing this guide in collaboration with our Business Safety colleagues in Nottinghamshire, we have been able to create guidance for small businesses across two counties, something other fire and rescue services may also be interested in adapting for their business community too.”
