Firefighters from Hucknall Fire Station have teamed up with
a local food bank ‘Under one roof’ to restart Hucknall Donates.
Firefighters have been continuing to help the food bank with
deliveries throughout the entire pandemic and they were asked to help again this
time round.
The food bank will run Hucknall Donates slightly different
this time. They are dividing Hucknall into three areas and will be collecting
from a different area each week to make it more manageable for the foodbank.
The collections will take place on the second, third and fourth Monday of the
month. You can register for a collection by emailing Hucknalldonates@gmail.com giving
your name, address and postcode.
Marcus Pratt, Crew Manager at Hucknall Fire Station, said: “The
reason we are doing it this way is because deliveries were taking six hours to
do and we needed around 10 firefighters to get all of the collections.
“Our Christmas collection was massive, and we cannot thank
the community enough, we are still overwhelmed from the support we received.
“Now that the supplies are starting to get low again, there
is no better time to restart this and we are pleased to be able to offer our
help and support.”
Yvonne
Campbell, Project Manager for Hucknall Foodbank ‘Under One Roof’ said: Once
again our local fire station has come up trumps. They are always willing to
help out at the foodbank and without them we would not be able to supply the
amount of food we do to those in need.”
