Flood Action Week 2021

We are supporting the Environment Agency's Flood Action Week, running from Monday 22 until Sunday 28 November.

In England there are over five million homes and businesses at risk of flooding.

Not only is the average cost of flooding to a home around £30,000, flooding also brings a significant risk to life.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is always ready to help you in the event of a severe flood, but there are crucial steps you can take to protect yourself and your property if you live in an area at risk of flooding.

Flood Action Week aims to raise awareness of what you can do, including creating a simple flood plan.

This year, the Environment Agency is advising members of the public to 'Prepare. Act. Survive'.
  • Prepare a bag that includes medicines and insurance documents.
  • Move items and pets upstairs or to safety.
  • Turn off electricity, gas and water.
  • Call 999 if in immediate danger.
  • Follow advice from the emergency services.
  • Keep yourself and your family safe.

There is lots of advice and information on how to plan ahead for flooding, on the Environment Agency's website (opens in a new tab).

Download the 'Prepare. Act. Survive' flood plan (opens in a new tab) to reduce the impact of flooding.
