Firefighters join army for Exercise Platoon

Crews from Highfields Fire Station, West Bridgford Fire Station, Stapleford Fire Station, Eastwood Fire Station and East Leake Fire Station joined members of the army at a training exercise at Chetwynd Barracks on Friday (22 June).

Firefighters were faced with a road traffic collision involving a car and an army truck as well as multiple casualties.

As if this wasn’t enough for them to deal with, a spillage of antifreeze also had to be removed by the army.

Watch Manager, Leigh Curtis, who organised the exercise said: "This was a fantastic opportunity to work with our colleagues in the armed forces to deliver a training exercise that generated many learning points for all involved.

"I would like to thank all the staff at Chetwynd Barracks for hosting us and allowing us to use their vehicle and personnel."
