Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have been in
attendance at a fire at a wood processing facility over the weekend following a
call just after 5:45am on Saturday 12 June.
We had a large number of crews at the scene in Elkesley
including additional resources from Derbyshire and South Yorkshire Fire and
Area Manager Damien West said: “Yet again I was incredibly
proud of the hard work and professionalism of everyone at the incident.
“The initial actions on scene prevented the fire from
spreading into a much bigger incident. The local crews knew the site, we
had Site Specific Risk Information available and this enabled an early,
positive request for additional resources. This, along with some
critical, early tactical decisions in the incident plan, definitely meant we
were able to deal with the incident more effectively. This limited both
the impact on the business and also on the time we were committed to the

Following the Fire Investigation it was highlighted that the most likely cause was an electrical fault.
Crews left the scene later on Saturday evening, with
reinspections being carried out over the rest of the weekend.
