Collingham Fire Station awarded 'best in snow'

Three fire stations have been competing for best decorated station to bring some Christmas spirit to the community.

After a week of public voting Collingham came out on top! Although all of our stations including Newark and Southwell have worked spectacularly hard to make their stations Christmassy.

Their competition has seen an increase of 95% engagement so a big thank you to all who voted!

They have been able to create something special throughout such a challenging year and hopefully bring a smile to the communities.

Wayne Brooks, Watch Manager at Collingham, said: "I would like to thank Crew Manager Max Sturman and Firefighter Rich Williams for their enthusiasm in getting involved with the competition and making the station look very Christmassy this year, while at the same time putting some safety messages in the windows and a window dedicated to the NHS.

"It has drawn a lot of attention from the local community and we have seen an increase in the number of people walking past and driving by to stop and take pictures.

"A big thanks to Station manager Leigh Holmes for suggesting the friendly competition and the banter that has gone with it between the three stations."

Remember you can still take a stroll past your local station and take an ‘elfie’ with the lit up station in the background. Whether you visit Collingham, Southwell or Newark they are all winners in our eyes!

Take this as a reminder to have a safe Christmas by making sure your sockets aren’t overloaded with fairy lights and to check your smoke alarms.

From the Service as a whole we wish you a very merry Christmas.
