Fire Control

The Fire Control team is based at Service Headquarters and operates a 24/7 service answering emergency 999 calls and mobilising fire engines across Nottinghamshire.

Working in the Control Room, you will learn how to respond to incoming calls for assistance and to carry out a range of duties in support of those activities.

Using a computerised system, Control Room staff receive calls, mobilise appliances, officers and other resources to incidents across the county and adjacent areas. They also implement procedures to provide information and support to uniformed personnel at the scene, and provide Fire Survival Guidance to those who are experiencing a fire, while fire crews are on their way. Fire Control comes into frequent contact with other emergency services, industry and commerce, private householders, the media and our partner organisations such as local authorities, the Environment Agency and Nottinghamshire Police.

A career in Fire Control is both challenging and rewarding and members of the team are required to display determination, stamina and discipline at all times.
