We were called at 9:55pm and four appliances were mobilised to the leisure centre (Highfields, Stapleford, Stockhill and Hazardous materials unit from Stockhill). Also in attendance were East Midlands Ambulance Service hazardous response team, Nottinghamshire Police and Emergency Planning. Twenty six people were evacuated from the centre and temporarily housed in the nearby Foxwood School whilst the incident was dealt with. Following mixing of chemicals used in the everyday running of the leisure centre, advice was taken from specialists at the National Chemical Emergency Centre. In dealing with the incident four breathing apparatus wearers in gas tight suites who used absorbent matts and ventilated the leisure centre before handing it back over to the centre managers. Two people were checked over by EMAS on scene and one person taken to hospital by EMAS as a precautionary check-up. The incident was dealt with by 00:18.
