What we did in 2012
New data has just been finalised, showing what all our fire stations and fire engines did in 2012, including the number of fires and other incidents we dealt with and how quickly we got there.
The 2012 operational activity data will be used to focus our resources where they are most needed and plan community safety initiatives.
It contains a glossary to explain some of the technical terms we use.

Seasonal safety
While 86% of houses in England now have a smoke alarm, not all of them have enough smoke alarms for the size of the house or have them in the right place. You should have at least one on every level and they should be positioned in halls, on landings or near rooms with a potential fire risk, but not in kitchens or bathrooms, where steam could set them off. If your home is one of the 14% without an alarm, get as many as your home needs and fit them as soon as possible.
