Know your fire safety responsibilities

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service Fire Protection department exists to assess the level and appropriateness of fire protection measures in business premises, in order to keep local people and property safe.

Part of this role is to carry out inspections and to give advice to those people designated as the ‘Responsible Person’ on how to carry out fire risk assessments in relation to their properties.

We will also take enforcement action to make sure they meet their statutory and legal responsibilities if this proves necessary, but this is a last resort. Instead, we prefer to work together and openly discuss issues and how to resolve them.

This section aims to give you information and tools you may find helpful in developing your own risk assessments. If you require any additional help, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
