Highfields marks International Firefighters Day

Friday 27 April 2012

Firefighters from Highfields Fire Station in Beeston will be serving tea, coffee and cakes to members of the public in order to mark International Firefighters Day. This is the day when we remember past firefighters who have dedicated their lives and died while serving and protecting the community. An annual memorial service takes place in London on Sunday 6 May.

Highfields firefighters will also be taking the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for The Fire Fighters Charity, which offers rehabilitation and therapy to injured fire service personnel and their families, as well as those recovering from illness.

Highfields Fire Fighters Charity representative, Arron Enever, said: “We are extremely proud to be supporting International Firefighters Day and I hope the people of Beeston will join with us in remembering those firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty.

“It will also give people the chance to find out more about the excellent work of The Fire Fighters Charity, to which Nottinghamshire people generously donate thousands of pounds every year by supporting fire service events across the county.”
