Working for us
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service offers a range of jobs and career opportunities to suit the interests and skills of many people.
The majority of our roles are operational (firefighter) roles. Take a look at firefighter roles if you would like to know more about this selection process.
Many of our operational roles are carried out on a ‘retained duty’ basis. Our retained firefighters usually have another job, are self-employed or at home during the day and are able to make themselves available for an agreed number of hours to undertake weekly training and to respond to emergency calls in their area. They must live or work within five minutes of their local fire station. Read the section on retained firefighter roles if you would like to find out how to become a retained firefighter.
The Service also relies on a number of people working behind the scenes to keep the organisation running smoothly and effectively.
These range from Control Room Operators to support services such as finance, human resources, administration, procurement, estates management, ICT, community safety, communications, fire protection and many others. Most of these posts are based at our Headquarters in Arnold, but some are located at other sites throughout the county. See if one of our support roles interests you.
You can also find information about our current vacancies and the section on our staff will give you a taste for the extensive range of jobs and careers we can offer.
