NFRS Headquarters
NFRS headquarters in Arnold

Nottinghamshire and City of Nottingham Fire Authority is responsible for ensuring its Fire and Rescue Service has the people, equipment and training needed to carry out its duties in relation to:

  • fire prevention.
  • fire safety.
  • firefighting and rescue.
  • road traffic collision extrication and rescue.
  • other emergency rescue activities, eg responding to flooding or terrorism.
The Authority is known as a ‘Combined Fire Authority’ (CFA) as it comprises councillors from two local authorities. There are 18 Members: six councillors from Nottingham City Council and 12 councillors from Nottinghamshire County Council. It is chaired by Cllr Darrell Pulk (County) and the Vice Chair is Cllr Brian Grocock (City). Authority members make decisions on key matters such as strategy, policy and the budget. There are 10 sub-committees reporting to the full Fire Authority:
  • Appointments Committee.
  • Best Value Review Board.
  • Community Safety Committee.
  • Equalities Action Group.
  • Finance and Resources Committee.
  • Human Resources Committee.
  • Performance Monitoring Committee.
  • Personnel Committee.
  • Policy and Strategy Committee.
  • Standards Committee.

Meetings are held at our Nottingham Headquarters and the public are welcome to attend (although you will not be able to ask questions), apart from when confidential or personal information is being discussed. These are usually the last items on the agenda.

On-site parking, access for people with disabilities and an induction loop for people with hearing difficulties are all available.

Papers for our meetings are currently held on the Nottingham City Council website. Agendas, accompanying reports and minutes of all the Fire Authority meetings can be accessed here.

If you require further information about our Fire Authority meetings, please contact: the committee administrator Carol Jackson on 0115 876 4297 or email carol.jackson@nottinghamcity.gov.uk .
